Youth co-op Charter school is home of the tigers.Youth Co-Op (or as many may know it by : Yccs) opened its doors in 1998 with a vision to inspire and succeed, and it has done just that. Accepting only certified teachers by the state of Florida, and with a 25 to 1 student to teacher ratio, this small elementary and middle school has packed quite an academic punch! Youth Co-Op has performed above the district average, and state average, in reading, writing, and mathematics on the Florida comprehensive academic test. More than 70% of students that took the FCAT scored at or above Level 2. Over 95% to the students scored at or above the Level 3 for the Writing Component. They are an "A" school for the 4th year in a row! The number of applications received annualy are close to 400. All students receive and hour of direct reading instruction aside from their daily Language Arts class. YCCS' mission statement: Youth Co-Op charter School's Mission is to provide a safe learning environment that results in increased student achievement. We provide a caring atmosphere that instills self confidence while imposing high demands on student performance. Small class size, increased parental involvement, and a track record of a strong academic achievement have made Youth Co-Op a success as an educational institution, as well as a positive contributor to the community.
