The WDK includes documentation, samples, a build environment, and tools. The WDK was called Microsoft Driver Development Kit (DDK) before the release of Microsoft Windows Vista . The WDK includes all the features and functionality of the DDK along with an automated test engine, the Driver Test Manager (DTM) which replaces the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility Kit (HCT).
