The White-banded Tanager (''Neothraupis fasciata'') is a bird native to central Brazil at elevations of 550-1100 m. It is the only member of the genus '''''Neothraupis'''''.

Length 16 cm. Weight 29-32 g.
Prefer dense tree cover. In some areas found in savannas and shrubs.
Live in groups of 5-12, usually 7 individuals.
Forage on the ground among grasses. Flock mate sits perched on taller vegetation on the lookout for predators.
Eats Insects .

Large deep cup nests lined with grass on small tree.
Clutch size 2-3 eggs.
Breeds in October and November.
Mating pair often helped by birds from earlier broods.
