The Virginia Aquarium, formerly known as the '''Virginia Marine Science Museum''', is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia . The exhibits at the museum are contained in over 700,000 gallons of fresh and saltwater displays. The two main buildings are the Bay and Ocean Pavilion and the Marsh Pavilion. The two are connected by a one-third mile outdoor nature trail. The Bay and Ocean Pavilion houses the Norfolk Canyon aquarium, which replicates the underwater environment just off the coast of Virginia and includes sharks, stingrays and other marine fish. The main building also hosts the IMAX 3D Theater. The Marsh Pavilion features otters, sea-horses and snakes an other marsh creatures. The Research and Conservation branch of the Aquarium Stranding Response Program, which rescues seals, dolphins, whales and sea turtles from local shores. EXTERNAL LINKS |
