Thornton Middle School is an A5 Middle School in unincorporated Harris County , Texas , United States , near the city of Houston . It is part of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District , one of the largest growing districts in the state of Texas. It teaches 6th ,7th , and 8th grade. The school spirit colors are mostly blue and red. Their mascot is the Patriots. Thornton Middle School feeds into Cypress Springs High School , Langham Creek High School , and eventually Cypress Lakes High School in fall 2008. Thornton's name came from Donald O. Thornton, retired Cypress-Fairbanks ISD superintendent. He served the District for 28 years as a teacher, coach, associate superintendent, and superintendent. He and his wife, Dixie, were well-respected, dedicated employees who helped to shape the direction of the school district.
