Sumomo Yumeka (夢花李 ''Yumeka Sumomo'') is a yaoi manga artist or Mangaka . Sumomo Yumeka is famous for her works ''Chou ni Naru Hi'' and ''Dousaibou Seibutsu'', which have been translated in English under the titles ''The Day I Became a Butterfly'' and ''Same Cell Organism''. Much of her information is a mystery, including her real name. Sumomo Yumeka is the most common pseudonym she uses but she has published her other works under the aliases Mizu Sahara and Sasshi. Although she is referred to as female, some fans have questioned her sex because of the style of her drawing bearing more similarity to a shounen manga and her avoidance of showing graphic sexual scenes in her yaoi works. Her illustration are simple and light which fit her stories perfectly. The narration is very quiet and gentle and the characters have more depth than in usual yaoi or shounen-ai stories. Although her characters are young, Sumomo Yumeka fleshes out young love in the dazzling magic and wonder that it is instead of portraying romance as a physical or social compulsion. |
