Information About

Stratford Market Railway Station

Stratford Market railway station was a Railway Station in Stratford , London , on the Eastern Counties And Thames Junction Railway . It opened as '''Stratford Bridge''' in 1846, and was between Stratford and Canning Town stations. It closed in 1957, due to lack of traffic, and the proximity of its much larger neighbour Stratford.

Today the red brick station buildings (on Stratford High Street ) still remain and are clearly visible on the south side of the road. The Jubilee Line and North London Line both pass through the station site. As part of the plans to extend the Docklands Light Railway north to Stratford International , a new station, Stratford High Street DLR Station , is planned for the site. {Link without Title}
