Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages, nicknamed "SWBYP'S" (pronounced swa-bips), was formed in
1984 upon the breakup of AT&T. SWBYP'S also referred to the following publishing/advertising companies of Southwestern Bell Corp./

1995 , Southwestern Bell Corp. changed its name to
SBC Communications , and SWBYP'S was largely unaffected. In
1999 , SBC completed its acquisition of
Pacific Telesis ,
Ameritech , and
SNET , and added "SBC" branding to its companies. The SWBYP'S nickname went by the wayside, in favor of Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages. The last year SWBYP'S were branded Southwestern Bell came in
2001 , when "SBC" was added to the company names SBC owned, and SWBYP'S became known as .
