The eighth edition of the was held in
Montevideo ,

1924 .
CONMEBOL asked the
Paraguayan Football Association to organize it, but it refused because they lacked the infrastructure for such an event. However, the association did organize it, and as means of honouring the recent
Paris 1924 gold medalist Uruguay, it was held in their country.
The participating countries were
Argentina ,
Chile ,
Paraguay and
Uruguay .
Brazil withdrew from the tournament.
Each team plays one match against each of the other teams. Two (2) points are awarded for a win, one (1) point for a draw and zero (0) points for a defeat.
