Oak Cliff The formerly separate town of Oak Cliff , annexed by Dallas in 1903, typically is considered geographically part of South Dallas, although culturally Oak Cliff also is linked to the East Dallas area. EDUCATION James Madison High School serves students in grades 9-12. Originally named Forest Avenue High School , the school's name and official colors, emblem, and mascot were changed in 1956 at the request of the parents' association and students after the district decided to redesignate the institution as a " Negro School " (the district had not yet agreed to begin Desegregation as specified by the Brown V.
