Presidential elections will be held in Slovenia on 21 October 2007 . {Link without Title}

Lojze Peterle announced that he would compete in November 2006, which made him the first official candidate. While Peterle will appear on the ballot as an Independent , his candidature is supported by the three main rightist parties New Slovenia , the Slovenian Democratic Party and the Slovenian People's Party .

While Borut Pahor , the leader of the Social Democrats , has the best chances of winning the election according to polls, he has decided he will not run in the presidential election or in the 2008 Parliamentary Election .

Zmago Jelinčič , the leader of the nationalist Slovenian National Party , announced his candidacy on 25 May 2007 .

Other candidates (eight so far) include former central bank governor Mitja Gaspari and former diplomat Danilo Türk . Also, recently Matej Sedmak , 23, known by many around the globe as Peacehiker , announced his candidacy as President to the Media on 17 August 2007 .

Janez Drnovšek , the current president or Slovenia, stated in several interviews that he is not thinking about running for a second term.
