Six Flags Atlantis




Originally known as 'Atlantis the Water Kingdom', funding ran out before construction finished. The park sat partially completed for some time before the parent company to Six Flags came in and opened it around 1982 as "Six Flags Atlantis". The water park included a wave pool, a lake with water-skiing shows, a seven-story slide tower, picnic area, various stores and arcades, and many other activities and shows.

In 1989 it was sold and re-opened as 'Atlantis the Water Kingdom'. The new owners reconfigured Atlantis as a smaller, more efficient park, but in 1992 it was heavily damaged by Hurricane Andrew , and demolished in 1994.

Today most of the area is now occupied by retail shopping. A ), and may still be there.
