Information AboutSchool (song) |
"School" is a song by the Grunge band Nirvana . It is the fourth song on their 1989 album, '' “Bleach.” '' The song was written by Kurt Cobain (credited as Kurdt Kobain). Had ''Bleach'' been released on a major label, "School" very likely would have been released as a single. The song was written about Sub Pop and the " Seattle Scene" at the time. According to Cobain, the song started out as a joke but turned out to be a really good song. The lyrics to the song consist of a mere 15 words. One interesting point is that the main riff shares a striking resemblance to the one in Soundgarden 's " Hunted Down " from their EP " Screaming Life " and that both songs are ticking in the same time, both at 2:42. OTHER VERSIONS As well as the original version on the ''“Bleach”'' album several other versions of "School" have been released: A live version of the song appeared on the " Come As You Are " single. Another live version appeard on the '' From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah '' album released in 1996. Video footage of the same live version is included on the DVD version of '' Live! Tonight! Sold Out!! '' which was re-released on DVD in 2006. A version from a 1988 rehearsal at bassist Krist Novoselic mother's house and a 1990 live version of "School" are on the '' With The Lights Out '' DVD . COVERS This song was covered by Fear Factory for their album '' Archetype ''. ACCOLADES
