Santa Ana Maya is a small municipality in the state of , La Lobera , El Cuervo , Rancho Nuevo , La Ladera , Potzundareo , San Rafael , El Toronjo , La Mesa Rica , La Colonia , and the largest is the town of Santa Ana Maya . Santa Ana Maya's population origins are pre-Hispanic ,and was called Sitquije(which means fertile soil).Later changed its name to Santa Ana Sitquije. Subsequently the town changed its name to Santa Ana Maya without knowing why or when was the precise time of this event. Santa Ana Maya's more important headings of capital are, immigration ,farming, carpentry,and others with less importance.Out of the last three just mentioned, immigration is by far the most important, counting with about 80 to 90 percent of all the money going to the town. It's main attractions are the two fairs,one is celebrated on the month of February(9 to 19),and the other is on the month of July(17 to 26 ). |
