In the United States , "safety school" can also be used in the College Application process to refer to a lesser-desired college or university for a particular applying student which the student nonetheless believes is very likely to accept his/her application, and can thus be used as a contingency outcome in the event that all his other applications are rejected. It is also well known as a derogatory chant used by students of schools towards what is considered to be a less prestigious school to them at athletic events. |
