HYDROLOGY

The sandbar that blocks the entrance of water to the Pacific Ocean is typically breached in January. Prior to this breaching the water quality of the blocked stream is highly Alkaline , with a PH of approximately 9.96. The summer waters remain brackish with electrical conductivity of about 902 micro-siemens per centimeter. (Lumina Technologies, 2006)
Surfing is advantageous in all tidal stages, but is best in summer.(Rodeo ,2005) There is a risk of shark attack, however.
