Regions Of The Republic Of Ireland

The Republic Of Ireland is split into eight regions for NUTS statistical purposes. These are not related to the four traditional Provinces but are based on the Administrative Counties .

The split is as follows:

# , Donegal , Leitrim , Louth , Monaghan , Sligo
# , Mayo and Roscommon
# , Longford , Offaly and Westmeath
# , Meath and Wicklow
# , and the counties of Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown , Fingal and South Dublin
# , Kilkenny , South Tipperary , Waterford and Wexford
# and Kerry
# , Limerick and North Tipperary

This split should not be confused with the 4 Irish European Parliament Constituencies or the Health Boards , both of which are also based on multiples of the counties. In the case of the Health Boards, however, some regions are the same as above. Indeed other government organisations used different groupings to form their own regions, depending on the needs of the organisation.
