The Quincy-Hannibal Micropolitan Area is an unofficial micropolitan area that combines both the cities of Quincy, Illinois and Hannibal, Missouri and the surrounding counties of Adams County, Illinois , Lewis County, Missouri , and Marion County, Missouri . The mistake of them being conjoined with each other comes from the media's perception. Businesses also recognize them both as one market. According to the 2000 census data the area of the three counties has a population of '''107,060''' people. PALMYRA Even though both Quincy and Hannibal are approximately 17 miles apart, Palmyra , the city in-between, is within 10 miles of both cities. This combined area is not recognized by the United States Census Bureau as its own micropolitan area, Quincy and Hannibal are considered two separate micropolitan areas. However both cities are close enough to be marked by companies as one market. The main proof of this is when the CBS Morning Show stopped in "''Hannibal-Quincy,IL''". This Micropolitan Area is also recognized by the locals in the area. CITIES AND TOWNS IN THE MICROPOLITAN AREA Core Cities Other Cities and Towns
