Plaza Indonesia is located in central Jakarta and is often referred as PI. Plaza Indonesia is the first high end shopping centre in Indonesia. Having opened its doors since 1990, Plaza Indonesia is located on the prominent corner of Jakarta's famous landmark, the selamat datang (welcome) statue. Still leading as one of the finest shopping centres in the country, it was previously occupied by Indonesia's first Sogo flagship department store as well as numerous international fashion labels including Gucci , Versace , Louis Vuitton and the latest being Zara 's Indonesia flagship store.

Its cafes and restaurants include Sushi Tei , Imperial Treasure and Dome . In 2003, the mall expanded and opened Plaza Indonesia Entertainment X'nter , linked by a bridge to the original shopping centre. 2007 will see the development of Keraton Grand Hyatt Residence located above another new extension of the shopping centre. Grand Hyatt Jakarta is also a part of this mixed-use development and have been a prominent landmark of the city.

Sogo department store closed its flagship store at Plaza Indonesia on February 28, 2007. The previous Sogo Supermarket however will still be operating after being redeveloped into Sogo The Food Hall. The west wing of the previously occupied space have been renoated, featuring Indonesia's first Debenhams department store and a Marks And Spencer store. Meanwhile, the main department store area will be reopened as boutique shops , cafes and restaurants in September 2007. Plaza Indonesia is currently undergoing a major facelift, closing most parts ot the south lobby and the main shopping centre's facade.
