Pierce County is a County located in the U.S. State of Wisconsin . As of 2000, the population was 36,804, and is estimated at nearly 39,000 in the 2005 census. Its County Seat is Ellsworth 6 . Pierce County is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul-Bloomington, MN-WI Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).

According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 1,532 Km&2 (592 Mi&2 ). 1,493 km&2 (576 mi&2) of it is land and 39 km&2 (15 mi&2) of it (2.55%) is water.

As of the Census &2 of 2000, there were 36,804 people, 13,015 households, and 9,032 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 25/km&2 (64/mi&2). There were 13,493 housing units at an average density of 9/km&2 (23/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 98.01% White , 0.25% Black or African American , 0.29% Native American , 0.43% Asian , 0.03% Pacific Islander , 0.28% from Other Races , and 0.72% from two or more races. 0.82% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. 41.0% were of German , 16.2% Norwegian , 7.1% Swedish and 7.1% Irish ancestry according to Census 2000 .

There were 13,015 households out of which 35.00% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.10% were Married Couples living together, 7.50% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.60% were non-families. 21.30% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.50% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.65 and the average family size was 3.10.

In the county, the population was spread out with 24.40% under the age of 18, 17.00% from 18 to 24, 28.10% from 25 to 44, 20.80% from 45 to 64, and 9.60% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 32 years. For every 100 females there were 97.30 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.20 males.
