It is a practise to convert a philosophy into a tangible format. There are number of instances to demonstrate that. One of the most potent example of the above statement is ZERO. Zero is not just a numeral. It has evolved out of the philosophy which is deep rooted not just in Hindu Scriptures but also in Jain and Buddhist Scriptures. WESTERN VS HINDU PHILOSOPHY Unlike in west where everything is considered to be linear, Hindu philosophy recognises everything to be circular.Take for example time, the western notion of time is one that of linear one where one thing happens after another and so on.In the Hindu philosophy context time is circular in fashion like a circle. Though at every point of circle it seems like it is tangential direction is linear but in a much larger context the it all seems to become a circular thing. It can also be derived from Hindu scriptures that everything in this world is circular in fashion. It means everything ends at the same point from where it started. The famous Hindu philosophy "what goes out comes back" can only happen if things move in circle rather than linear fashion. ZERO AND MEDITATION1 The philosophy of Zero relates to Meditation.Meditation is about a state where a person becomes neutral to the influences of the world. This is basically attained by concentrating at a virtually assumed round like Zero at the center of the forehead. This virtual round like Zero is suppousedly the source of Zero.So Zero is basically a state of nothing achieved through constant concentration. ZERO AND EQUILIBIRIUM IN LIFE It is the deep rooted belief of Hindu and Dharmic religions that life should attain an equilibirium which should neither be on positive or on negative side. This philosophy when plotted on number line is the state of "Zero".This philosophy of non alignment with +ve or - ve signs has been the core of non alignment movement spearheaded by India.
