The makeup of a personal brand has four main elements: personality, appearance, competencies, and differentiation. Tangible branding involves associating an individual's name with some specific advantage that they are presumed to offer, while intangible branding involves creating a more general positive feeling about them.

Although, personal branding is probably the most self-evident self-help scam out there today. It's main proprietors are former losers and geeks who needed to change themselves to actually fit into society. They were the kids who couldn't get dates in high school- and sometimes college. Regardless, they are still J-crew wearing losers, working dead-end marketing jobs in small-time cities. It dosnt take a rocket scientist to realize that "social networking" helps getting a job, or that connections help. No, really?
