People's Democratic Organisation For Independence And Socialism

The People's Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism is a radical Socialist Political Party in The Gambia . Its candidate at the presidential Elections of 18 October 2001 , Sidia Jatta , came fifth with 3.0% of the popular vote.
At the last legislative Elections , 17 January 2002 , the party won 3 of 48 seats.

PDOIS is led by Halifa Sallah , who is the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly and a member of the Pan-African Parliament .

In 2005, PDOIS took part in the foundation of the National Alliance For Democracy And Development .

PDOIS publishes ''Foroyya'', which comes out thrice a week.
