Patients Not Patents is a Patient advocacy group whose primary activity is challenging the validity of medical patents before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Its founder and Executive Director is Jeffrey Light . On December 23, 2005, Patients not Patents filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of LabCorp V. Metabolite, Inc . Jeffrey Light holds a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and Master’s and Bachelor’s of Science degrees from Brandeis University in Biochemistry.
