The Paradise Comicon also known as the '''Toronto Comicon''' and the '''Paradise Comics Toronto Comicon''' is an annual Comic Book convention held in the spring in Toronto, Canada . Note: Comicon is a slang way of saying comic book convention. The subtitle to the event is "A Celebration of and its creators, and a workshop room for instruction in related fields. The event is run by Paradise Conventions a division of Toronto Comic Book store Paradise Comics . Paradise Comics has been putting on one-day Comic Book conventions in Toronto since the early 1990s. In March 2003 they held the last one day Toronto Comicon and relaunched in November 2003 as a 3 day event. In 2004 it was held in mid-June. In 2005 and 2006 it was held in late April. In 2007 it will be held on June 8-10. In August 2006 Paradise held its first one-day show in over three years, the Toronto Comic Book Fan Super Show at the Toronto Hilton Hotel. The Convention is held at the National Trade Centre , located at Exhibition Place (home of the historic Canadian National Exhibition ) It is also the current home for the Annual Joe Shuster Awards for Canadian Comic Book Creators, established in 2005, and Comics For Kids - an initiative to interest children in comics as a tool for reading and creativity - established in 2006.
