Olga Arsenievna Oleinik




Olga Arsenievna Oleinik ( July 2 , 1925 in Kiev , UkraineOctober 13 , 2001 , Moscow , Russia ) was a Soviet Mathematician who conducted pioneering work on the theory of Partial Differential Equation s, and the theory of strongly inhomogeneous elastic media. She was a student of Ivan Petrovsky . She studied and worked at the Moscow State University . More than 359 mathematical publications are under her name.

She received many prizes for her remarkable contributions: the Chebotarev Prize ; the State Prize; the Lomonosov Prize ; the Petrowsky Prize ; and the Prize of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
