The North Dakota Army National Guard is headquartered in Bismarck, North Dakota , and consists of the 68th Troop Command and the Engineer Brigade. Their main installation and armory is at Camp Grafton .

The mission of the 164th Engr Bn is to: Provide command and control of corps mechanized engineer units and increase the combat effectiveness by accomplishing mobility, counter-mobility, survivability, and sustainment tasks. Perform combat missions in the role of infantry when required. Reinforce heavy brigade and armored Cavalry regiment engineer units when required.
