New Mexico Route 1 runs south from Socorro, New Mexico to Mitchell Point and goes through the communities of Luis Lopez and San Antonio and then the Bosque Del Apache National Wildlife Refuge . Further south it passes dirt roads leading to Fort Craig and San Marcial . Its total length is approximately 60 miles, following the route of old U.S. Route 85 .
