Question 2 of 2002 is a so-called " Defense Of Marriage Amendment " that amended the Nevada Constitution by adding a definition of Marriage that has the effect of preventing Same-sex Marriage s from being conducted or recognized in Nevada . The Question passed two public referendums as required by the Nevada Constitution, the first on November 7 , 2000 with 70% of voters supporting and 30% opposing and the second on November 5 , 2002 with 67% of voters supporting and 33% opposing.
