Nevada's 2nd Congressional District




The 2nd Congressional District of Nevada is a Congressional District occupying all of Nevada outside of Clark County , and some parts of Clark County. The largest city in the district is Reno , and the district is drawn to heavily favor Republicans. The district was created after the 1980 Census , and has since been held exclusively by Republicans.

The district is the largest district in area not to comprise an entire state.

  • Jill Derby (Democrat) lost to Republican Dean Heller , the former Nevada Secretary of State in an election 45% to 50%. In the August 15 primary, Heller narrowly defeated Assemblywoman Sharron Angle , with former Assemblywoman Dawn Gibbons , the wife of Jim Gibbons, running 3rd. Heller received 24,781 votes, Angle 24,353, and Gibbons 17,328. {Link without Title}
