, who represented Moldova in their 2005 debut appearance]] Moldova has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest three times, in 2005 , 2006 and 2007 (see ESC2005 , ESC2006 and ESC2007 ). This is due to the country only joining the European Broadcasting Union , which countries must be part of in order to compete in Eurovision, in late 2004 . Following the poor result in the 2006 Contest, the Moldovan broadcaster announced that it would withdraw from participation and did not allocate a budget for the 2007 Contest.
