The rubber tires are used to transport the crane from one place to the other. The wheel system is similar to the one used in an airplane's landing system. Once the crane is in place and ready to start working, it is lifted and the crane's weight is supported by accessory "legs". A mobile crane's advantage is its ease of transportation and its flexibility in handling different types of load or cargo quickly. The first mobile crane was launched by Gottwald in 1956. REFERENCES
