It's mission is to preserve and promote Bluegrass and Old-Time Stringband music in and around Minnesota. The organization organizes four annual concert weekends. Both of these events are in the Minneapolis area) and two are outdoors ("The Homegrown Kickoff" the first weekend in June and - the main event of the year - the four day festival occuring the second weekend in August (Thursday through Sunday) both of these are at the El Rancho Mañana campground in Richmond MN), Additionally MBOTMA organizes the Minnesota Bluegrass Community Concert Series, and the Lonely Pines Concert Series which include venues around the state of Minnesota. |
