Military College Jhelum or '''MCJ''', is a Military High School , located near Jhelum, Pakistan. It's considered as an important and vital producer of the army work force. This institution constantly feeds the Pakistan Military Academy , Kakul , also known as PMA.


HISTORY


Military college was founded on March 3 , 1922 by British King George, the Emperor of India and Prince of Wales. It was originally named King George Royal Indian Military School. King George of Britain built four of such cadet school through out India to benefit the sons of Royal Indian Army.

Regular classes began on 15 September 1925 . At that time, it was organized as a residential school for the sons of Muslim soldiers with the objective of producing educated rank and file for the British-Indian Army units. In 1943, the school underwent structural reforms. The college reemerged as an institution of choice for potential officers of the army. With the creation of Pakistan, the college took further strides both in scope and objectives


LOCATION


Geographically, Military College Jhelum is located in district of Gujrat in the town of Sarai Alamgir . But due to its proximity to city of Jhelum, it is widely known as Military College Jhelum (MCJ).


STUDENT LIFE


The students who are called cadets, are not only academically superior but well disciplined and are physically fit and meet all the requirement any regular army in the world. Cadets take part in sports such as filed hockey, Cricket, Foot ball (soccer), Basket ball, Squash, Tennis and horse back riding. Personal fitness also include judo, karate, gymnastics, jogging and running. Physical training (PT) an original form of aerobics is also conducted on daily basis.
