The Michigan Department of Transportation ('''MDOT''') is a Government agency in the U.S. State of Michigan .


HISTORY


The first State Highway Department was created on July 1 , 1905 . Michigan was home to the nation's first mile of Concrete Pavement , first synchronized Traffic Signal , and first Snowplow .


RAILROAD SUBSIDIES

The Department provides Subsidies to Amtrak Michigan Services operations in the state for the ''Blue Water'' and the ''Pere Marquette'' lines.12
