GEOGRAPHY Medina is located at (47.626571, -122.232805). According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 12.4 Km&2 (4.8 Mi&2 ). 3.7 km&2 (1.4 mi&2) of it is land and 8.7 km&2 (3.3 mi&2) of it (69.94%) is water. Medina is connected to Seattle on the western shore of Lake Washington by Washington State Route 520 on the Evergreen Point Floating Bridge , the longest Floating Bridge in the world. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 3,011 people, 1,111 households, and 905 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 813.0/km&2 (2,102.3/mi&2). There were 1,165 housing units at an average density of 314.6/km&2 (813.4/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 92.63% White , 0.17% African American , 0.27% Native American , 4.88% Asian , 0.07% Pacific Islander , 0.33% from Other Races , and 1.66% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.39% of the population. There were 1,111 households out of which 38.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.6% were Married Couples living together, 5.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.5% were non-families. 14.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.71 and the average family size was 3.00. In the city the population was spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 3.5% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 29.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.2% who were 65 years of age or older.
