The two hospitals are Charity Hospital and University Hospital . Both hospitals are Teaching Hospital s of the LSU Health Science Center In New Orleans (LSUHSC-NO) , commonly referred to as the LSU Medical School in New Orleans. There are currently plans to build a new modern hospital adjacent to the LSUHSC-NO medical school. If approved by the Louisiana State Legislature , such a hospital would replace Charity Hospital and University Hospital, and it would be known as the "Medical Center of Louisiana at New Orleans".
