Over two dozen sex scenes were shot but never used. Producers wanted to sell the film overseas as a sex comedy and shot over 80 minutes of nudity and sex scenes to make it marketable. Several legal issues came up that prevented the producers from using these scenes. Richard Mulligan, Misty Rowe, and Archie Hahn threatened lawsuits if the film was sold as a sex film internationally. Producers attempted to use some of the scenes in the American release. Evenutally, the scenes were cut to lower the MPAA rating from R to PG:
- A sex scene with Archie Hahn (Jamie) and Misty Rowe (Fanny) in Jamie's cabin - 1 minute 13 seconds. In this scene, Fanny is dressed as a cheerleader and performs a strip tease for Jamie. Then, as they have sex, Fanny performs a cheer. They are interrupted when a camper clumsily opens the door to the cabin.
- A sex scene with Jamie and Fanny in Fanny's cabin - 2 minutes. In this scene, Fanny is on top of Jamie while wearing a cowboy hat. They are interrupted when Paul Reubens (Albert) bursts into the cabin and makes a wise crack.
- A sex scene with Jamie and Fanny in the woods - 45 seconds. They are interrupted when Richard Mulligan (Giddy) spots them.
- A sex scene with Fanny and Jamie in Fanny's cabin - 7 minutes. In this scene, Jamie and Fanny have sex while 2 campers secretly tape them.
- A shower scene featuring Fanny completely naked. - 27 seconds. In this scene, Fanny is showering. Jamie is watching through a peephole. As Jamie watches, Fanny masturbates with the shower-head.
- A short scene when Fanny goes into the wrong cabin: 2 minutes. In this scene, Fanny tries to surprise Jamie by sneaking into his cabin. She surprises Boomer instead.
- Fanny finding pictures: 1 minute. In this scene, Fanny finds topless pictures of herself selling at camp for $1.
- Fanny and Jamie in a closet. 3 Minutes. Jamie and Fanny kissing in a closet. Flash interrupts them. He asks Fanny is she'll sign a topless picture for him.
- Fanny and Jamie in the woods. 2 minutes 22 seconds. Jamie and Fanny make out in the woods. Sgt. Paladin sees them. He salutes Jamie and keeps walking.
- A Flashback sequence. 3 minutes. Jamie and Fanny make out in the woods. They are photographed by several kids. This scene was deemed too graphic and was cut immediately after it was shot.
- An extended make out scene: 2 minutes. This is an extended version of the make out scene between Jamie and Fanny.
- Jamie and Fanny in Fanny's cabin. 3 minutes. Jamie and Fanny make out but are caught when Tula and Sally come into the cabin.
- Fanny and Jamie having sex in the woods. In this scene, Boomer catches them making love - 3 minutes.
- Fanny and Jamie having sex in the woods. In this scene, Col. Hershey catches Fanny and Jamie making love. - 4 minutes.
- Jamie and Fanny having sex in Fanny's cabin. They stop when they see Tula, Sally, Nancy, and Cheryl watching them. - 5 minutes.
- Jamie and Fanny having sex by the lake - In this scene, Meathead sees Jamie and Fanny having sex. They run away when Meathead falls out of a tree. - 5 minutes.
- Jamie and Fanny having sex in Jamie's cabin. In this scene, Jamie and Fanny have sex but stop when a bear comes into the cabin - 3 minutes.
- Jamie and Fanny having sex in Fanny's cabin. In this scene, Eddie interrupts Jamie and Fanny having sex. - 4 minutes.
- Jamie and Fanny having sex in Chief's tribal office. In this scene, Giddy and the Chief interrupt Jamie and Fanny having sex Indian style - 4 minutes.
- A sex scene between Jamie and Fanny: 4 minutes. In this scene, Jamie and Fanny try to have sex. Jamie finds that all the condoms he has break.
- A sex scene between Jamie and Fanny: 5 minutes. In this scene, Jamie and Fanny try to have sex. Jamie is unable to get an erection due to some drugs he is given by Albert.
- A sex scene between Jamie and Fanny: 2 minutes. In this scene, Jamie and Fanny have sex on the bus. They are caught by a group of parents.
- A sex scene between Jamie and Fanny: 6 minutes. In this scene, Jamie and Fanny are having sex when Meathead and his family see them.
- A sex scene between Jamie and Fanny: 3 minutes. In this scene, Jamie and Fanny have sex and are caught by Cheryl.
- An end credit sex scene: 7 minutes. In this scene, Jamie and Fanny finally have sex in Giddy's office. During sex, Fanny accidentally switches on the PA system. Afterwards, Fanny and Jamie exit only to see a crowd applauding.
- The role of Fanny was offered to several actresses including Leslie Easterbrook , Lee Meredith , Carol Wayne , Robyn Hilton , and Jennifer Cooke . All of them turned it down due to the graphic sex and nudity. Robyn Hilton is the only actress who tested for the film before she turned it down. Her screentest consisted of taking off her top and waving pom-poms in the air. According to Hilton, "I loved the script but the nudity was too much. I wanted to move away from all of that."
- Misty Rowe wore a heavily padded bra in order to play the top heavy Fanny.
- In one of the opening scenes one of the female campers say that the camp looks like the camp from the '' Friday The 13th '' films. ''Meatballs II'' was filmed at the Veluzat Motion Picture Ranch, the exact same shooting location as '' Friday The 13th Part 3 ''.
- Originally the movie was to be entitled ''Space Kid'', but the producers decided to cash in on the franchise and bought the rights to use the title ''Meatballs II''.
