Mats Rubarth, born January 25 1977 in Örebro , Sweden , is a professional footballer with Swedish top side AIK . He left Örebro SK after the 2000 season for AIK.

A technical left-winger (though right footed), Rubarth excells in dribbling past defenders. He regularly provides strikers with good passes, and consequently gets quite a few assists. During the 2003 season, Rubarth's best, he proved to be an able goal scorer too, netting ten times in the Swedish top division, Allsvenskan (including a spectacular bicycle-kick goal against arch rivals Hammarby ).

Though not a physical player, Rubarth picks up a staggering amount of yellow cards, and quite a few red ones. This is due to his sometimes uncontrollable temper which causes him to perform all kinds of crazy tackles. Present AIK coach Rikard Norling is aware of this threat to the team and if Rubarth receives a yellow card, he is often substituted in order to avoid getting him sent off.

Despite his on-pitch temper problems, Rubarth is quite popular at AIK's home ground Råsunda , due to his bohemian style and technical flair (and also thanks to his commitment to the club, as he has stayed in AIK in six seasons, including the season in the second division, Superettan ). Off pitch, Rubarth is known to be calm as a cucumber.
