Marysville High School is a public high school in Marysville, Michigan . Its enrollment is about 850 students. They are the Home of the Vikings. There will be a new Marysville High School built in the near future, with a finish date set at 2010, making the class of the same year the last to graduate from the current Marysville High School. VISION STATEMENT All students of Marysville Public Schools will continuously push the bounds of their limitless potential, graduating to become successful, self-sufficient, self-fulfilled, caring and contributing members of our diverse global society. MISSION STATEMENT Marysville Public Schools will serve as a collaborative learning community, maintaining a culture of excellence that promotes academic rigor, relevance, and relationships, and constantly striving to achieve our vision. Rigor: Students learn to think in complex and challenging ways, allowing them to achieve at a higher level. Relevance: Learning has personal meaning and usefulness for students, now and in the future, and is connected to a larger purpose beyond the self. Relationships: Personal and positive connections that support greater student success and well-being are developed and maintained within the school community. GUIDING PRINCIPLES In every decision that we make and action that we take, the members of the Marysville Public Schools community will be guided by the following principles:
SPORTS There have a history of successful sport teams, most presumably volleyball (who have on all but 1 of the last 9 volleyball state championships. The Football team plays at Walt Braun Viking Stadium at the corner of Michigan and Collard.(A pun on Detroit Tigers Stadium being at the corner of Michigan and Trumbull). They also have a band program led by Mr. Dennis Duso. They have been the home of the Vikings since 1950. Pre-1950 Marysville High School was the home of the Dreamers. Football The Marysville High School Vikings Varsity Football team won the state championships in 1986 and 1992. The Vikings have one of the winningest high school football programs in the state of Michigan, with a winning percentage of .809. Volleyball The Volleyball team has won the Michigan Volleyball State Champions in every year from 1997 to 2006, with the exception of 2005. |
