Marlin Tyrell Jackson (born June 30 , 1983 in Sharon, Pennsylvania ) is an American Football Cornerback for the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL . He was selected with the 29th overall pick of the 2005 NFL Draft out of the University Of Michigan , where he was a two time all-American for the Wolverines. The statistics for Jackson's senior season at UM are underwhelming at first glance, until you look at the statistic for the percentage of passes opposing quarterbacks threw away from Jackson - coaches and quarterbacks were concerned at Jackson's interception and pass break-up ability, so they threw away from him almost 90% of the time. As a graduate of Sharon High School in 2001, Jackson was the Pennsylvania player of the year and picked for USA today's all american first team. PRO CAREER

As an NFL rookie he had 52 tackles and 1 interception. Marlin played mostly in nickel situations with one start in 15 games. In his second season, he had 82 tackles and 1 interception. He has been starting at safety in place of the injured Bob Sanders. Marlin's career high was a 14 tackle performance against the Houston Texans.


2006-07 PLAYOFFS

On January 21 , 2007 , Jackson intercepted New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady with 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter of the AFC Championship Game to seal the Colts' 38-34 victory and send them to Super Bowl XLI against the Chicago Bears , which they subsequently won.


LEGAL TROUBLE

Jackson was charged with felonious assault in the summer of 2003. A 26-year-old man accused Jackson of striking him in the right eye with a bottle on June 1, requiring 17 stitches, in Ann Arbor, Michigan . {Link without Title}
