Marcus Banks is an American professional Basketball player. BIOGRAPHY Marcus Banks was born Arthur Lemarcus Banks III on November 19 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada . Banks is 6'2" (188 cm) tall and 200 lb (90 kg). He attended Cimarron-Memorial High School in Las Vegas, where he led the Spartans to the 1998-99 State Championship. CAREER UNLV After playing two years at Dixie State College Of Utah , Banks transferred to the University Of Nevada, Las Vegas . He played for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels , where he was Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Boston Celtics Banks was selected as the thirteenth pick in the first round of the 2003 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies ; however, he was then traded to the Boston Celtics along with Kendrick Perkins . In Boston, Banks was known for his good defense and ball handling; however, he was also known for his poor shooting and decision making. In addition, Coach Doc Rivers had high hopes for rookie Delonte West , who also played point guard. As a result, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge declined to pick up a club option on Banks. Minnesota Timberwolves On January 26 , 2006 , it was announced that Banks, Mark Blount , Ricky Davis , and Justin Reed were traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Wally Szczerbiak , Michael Olowokandi and Dwayne Jones .
