Marcus Aemilius Lepidus Executed 39

He is best known however for his marriage (as her second husband) circa 37 to his first and second cousin Drusilla ( 16 September 1610 June 38 apparently of a fever). Drusilla had been previously married in 33 to Lucius Cassius Longinus (murdered 41 AD by Caligula) but the couple was ordered to divorce by Caligula who reputedly became all his sisters' lover.

Marcus Aemilius Lepidus's marriage to Drusilla was brief, and issueless. Reportedly, Caligula lived incestuously with his sister during the entire period, so the marriage might have been in name only. After Drusilla's death, Marcus Aemilius Lepidus reportedly became a lover to her surviving sisters Livilla and Agrippina The Younger in an apparent attempt to gain their support in succeeding Caligula. The conspiracy was discovered in autumn 39 and Lepidus swiftly executed. {Link without Title}

Lepidus had no children, but his sister Aemilia Lepida (d. 53 , poisoned by Caligula's sister Agrippina The Younger ) had three sons and two daughters by her husband. Two of them became consuls but all three died under tragic circumstances, as did a great-nephew.
