Mac McAnally (born Lyman McAnally Jr., 1957 , in Red Bay , Alabama ) is an American Musician , Songwriter and Record Producer . He scored his biggest hit single on the ''Billboard'' Magazine Hot 100 Chart in 1977 with the Song "It's a Crazy World." Since then, he has had success in the Country Music genre as a songwriter, Session Musician , and as a producer for the band Sawyer Brown . He is currently a member of Jimmy Buffett 's Coral Reefer Band . Buffett has Recorded a number of his songs. Mac's only Top 40 country music single, ''Back Where I Come From'', was later recorded by Kenny Chesney on Chesney's ''Me and You'' album. Although Chesney's version of the song was never released, he often performs the song in concert. DISCOGRAPHY
