MacWilliam entered federal politics after winning the 1988 Federal Election at the Okanagan—Shuswap Electoral District for the New Democratic Party . He served in the 34th Canadian Parliament but lost to Darrel Stinson of the Reform Party in the 1993 Federal Election . He then joined the Liberal Party under which he campaigned at Okanagan—Shuswap in the 1997 Federal Election . He was again defeated by Stinson, placing second. EXTERNAL LINK
