THE PASTOR

College: Tim Dance has lived most of his life in Maryland, growing up in Baltimore County. He studied philosophy and communication at the University of Maryland, College Park. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1998, he served as a Campus Minister for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

Seminary: Tim then spent four years studying at Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia. During this period, he spent time serving as the Staff Chaplain of Sandy Cove Conference Center in North East, MD and the Pastoral Intern of Glorious Presence Church in Elkton, MD.

Ministry: After graduating with a Master of Divinity degree in 2003, Tim was installed as the Minister of Education & Outreach at his church in Elkton. He also spent four years as the Christian Worldview Instructor for high school seniors at Towle Institute in Delaware.

Family: Tim has been married since 2000 to his wife Karen, who works part-time as a nurse. They have two sons, Simon and Oliver, who alternate between making them incredibly happy and incredibly annoyed. In 2007 Tim was ordained, and they moved to New Freedom to join with God and other families to begin Living Hope Church.

VISION

This community seeks to be a place where all people – longtime followers, new followers, and those still investigating Christ – can find support and direction in their pursuit of God and the hope of a living Savior.

BELIEFS

Creation: God created humanity to be in loving relationship with Him, ultimately through a Savior.

Bible: God’s Word, the Bible, guides people to Himself and is the final standard of Truth.

Sovereignty: God has a good and sovereign plan encompassing all events, people, and spiritual beings.

Rebellion: God regards all people as disobedient, rebellious, separated from Him, and needing His forgiveness.

Jesus: God’s Son, Jesus, came to earth, was fully God and fully Man, lived perfectly, died on a cross, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven.

Judgment: God the Son will come again to bring the end of this world and eternal judgment.

Faith: God’s Son died to accomplish the forgiveness of sin and rose from the dead to accomplish the infilling of new life, applied by faith.

Grace: God rescues people from death into life based on His initiative and grace.

Spirit: God’s Spirit fills all who believe with daily strength, spiritual gifts, and enduring faith.

Church: God intends for His Church to gather for worship, maintain purity, and spread the Gospel.

Union: God has given Baptism and the Lord’s Supper to express a believer’s union with Christ and spiritual transformation.

Family: God values the family unit and organizes His Church to reflect this model, both relationally and structurally.

Leadership: God designs and equips all Christians for ministry and some to lead in the Church as elders and deacons.
