On ''Sesame Street'', Bove has introduced thousands of children to Sign Language and issues surrounding the Deaf Community. Her role as Linda on ''Sesame Street'' is currently the longest recurring role in television history for a deaf person. The character owns a very playful dog, Barkley . Bove appeared in an episode of '' Happy Days '' as Allison, a girlfriend of The Fonz . In this role she also portrayed a deaf woman. PERSONAL LIFE Born in Garfield , New Jersey , Bove attended Gallaudet University . She has been married to Ed Waterstreet since 1970 . Like Bove, Waterstreet is also deaf.
