Leopold Hoffer (born 1842, Hungary - died 28 August 1913, England) was an English chess player and journalist. He left Budapest for Switzerland. Since 1867, he lived in Paris, where won a few matches, among others against Ignatz Von Kolisch , Samuel Rosenthal , Jules Arnous De Rivière , etc. In 1870, he came to England, where spent rest of his life. In 1879-1896, Hoffer was a founder and editor (with Johannes Zukertort ) of ''The Chess Monthly''. |
