The Islands of Calleja are a portion of the Limbic System , in the Telencephalon , associated with Olfaction . They are named after Julián Calleja Y Sánchez ( 1836 – 1913 ), Spanish anatomist.

They are also a major source of D3 Dopamine Receptor s.Suzuki M, Hurd YL, Sokoloff P, Schwartz JC, Sedvall G. ''D3 dopamine receptor mRNA is widely expressed in the human brain.'' Brain Res. 1998 Jan 1;779(1-2):58-74. PMID 9473588
