Islands Brygge is the name of an area in Copenhagen , Denmark , named after the prominent water-side road of the same name. It is located on the north-west part of the Copenhagen island Amager . The area is home to, among other things, the National Board Of Health , Statens Serum Institut , the University Of Copenhagen Faculty Of Humanities , and the first Casino in Denmark, located in the Radisson SAS hotel. The area was earlier known for being a rough neighborhood, because of criminal activity around the habour in the 70's and 80's. Today Islands Brygge has often been referred to as the " Manhattan of Copenhagen", because the area is fast becoming one of the more expensive neighbourhoods to live in.
